    Case: 22k gold, height is 4.75 inches, width 1 inch, cylindrical shape with polychrome enameled cartouches depicting crimson camaieux landscapes and floral bouquets, engraved borders, the upper part with integrated watch, the bottom with date indicator, bottom unscrews to reveal a compass, Paris discharge mark on the inner gold tube
    Dial: time dial signed Romilly a Paris with Roman numerals, gold Louis XV hands, date dial with Arabic numerals and blued steel pointer
    Movement: gilt full plate, key wind, signed Romilly a Paris, marked 851, 12/F, going barrel, cylinder escapement, three arm steel balance, engraved and pierced balance cock, tapered cylindrical pillars, blued steel round top screws

    This extraordinary and rare creation by the celebrated watch and clockmaker, Jean Romilly, is almost certainly the only one in existence. While some rare étuis from the period are fitted with watches, this example offers three useful tools. The form and execution are impressive with intricately enameled flowers and crimson landscapes. It is a highly important and rare masterpiece from the mid-18th century.
