    Case: hallmarked sterling, three body consular case with fixed inner dust lid, 59 mm, glass bulls eye crystal, J.F makers mark
    Dial: enamel, black Roman numerals, black minute track, subsidiary seconds track, gold spade hands
    Movement: No. 3345, gilt full plate, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, engraved barrel plate and bridge with mask, Arnold-type spring detent escapement, two arm bi-metallic compensated balance with brass timing screws, brass escape wheel, blued steel freesprung helical balance spring, diamond endstone
    Signed: Grant Fleet St. London, with associated wood deck box and brass key

    Note: John Grant was a maker of great originality and one of the pioneers of the lever escapement in England. Only a small number of watches by Grant exist and no two are the same. Most of his watches were fitted with lever escapements. The present lot is exceptionally rare using an precision spring detent escapement.
