    Swiss Rare & Important Gold Minute Repeater With Perpetual Calendar, Moon Phase & Chronograph Commemorating Nicolás Avellaneda, President Of Argentina, circa 1890
    Case: 18k rose gold, massive, four body, gold slide bar to activate the repeat, gold button for the chronograph function, 57 mm, plain back cover, gold cuvette with inset polychrome enameled portrait of President Nicolás Avellaneda, front cover engraved with the name of his brother - Marco M. Avellaneda
    Dial: white enamel, black Roman numerals, outer minute track and 1/5th second marks, sunk subsidiary dials for the four year cycle, days of the month and days of the week, subsidiary seconds at six with aperture for the moon phase, rose gold spade hands, center sweep seconds hand, steel adjusting bars below the bezel, rose gold set lever at four o'clock
    Movement: nickel bridge, 36 jewels, straight line lever escapement, bi-metallic compensated balance with Breguet spring, jeweled to the hammers, wolf's tooth winding
    This historically important timepiece is in tribute to Nicolás Avellaneda (1837 - 1885) who served as President of Argentina from 1874 to 1880. The most important events of his government were the Conquest of the Desert and the transformation of the City of Buenos Aires into a federal district. A high quality enameled portrait is fitted into the gold cuvette of the watch. The front cover is engraved Marco M. Avellaneda. Marco (1839 - 1903) was the brother of Nicolás. He represented Tucumán in the Senate for 15 years.
