    This timepiece has been consigned from the family of original owner; a Georgia Tech. PhD trained physicist and world-renowned scientist primarily in the field of magnetic measurement. He authored many papers on the rigors of aligning quadrapole magnets. Based at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in Northern California, he also consulted for the research center at The CERN Institute located at the Swiss/French border on its particle accelerator project. Previously, he was a Commander in the US Navy, and experienced yachtsman who utilized this watch and a sextant for celestial navigation on extensive sailing expeditions.

    Designed specifically for scientists such as this gentleman, this Ref 1019 Milgauss is the ultimate expression in 'Tool' watch that has lived its life exactly as Rolex had intended, and survives in exceptional condition. The watch is presented with the original guarantee and bill of sale from Bucherer, Geneva, dated may 26th 1970. It is also accompanied by a Rolex Oyster model price list from 1969 and a 32 page booklet with product information and color images of Oyster models of the era.

    Condition: This timepiece is presented in excellent original condition. The case shows signs of polishing but retains it lines with some wear on bezel edge and case sides. Dial is excellent, with nicely aged tritium lume intact. Timepiece retains its soft iron shield and inside caseback X spacer. Rivet stretch bracelet is tight. Crystal has some scratches. Movement runs and sets as it should. Service is recommended for daily wear and timekeeping accuracy.
