Rolex Rare Ref. 1655 Double Red Sea-Dweller Submariner, circa 1977
Case: # 5216946, stainless steel, gas escape valve on the rim, 40 mm, black bezel calibrated for 60 units, screw down crown, screw back engraved "Rolex Patent Oyster Gas Escape Valve"
Dial: matte black, luminous dot, baton and dagger markers, date at three, luminous Mercedes hands, white minute marks
Movement: nickel finished automatic, caliber 1570, 26 jewels, adjusted five positions and temperature
Band: style 93150, steel, deployant clasp with flip lock engraved "Paramedic"
    Signed: all elements signed Rolex

Note: The dial of this rare timepiece is from the "Mark IV" series which is distinguished by the printing on the dial. The double red lines show different sizes: the "SUBMARINER 2000", is smaller than the first line "Sea-Dweller". When examined closely the printing appears to be made up of a series of small dots, rather than direct brush stroke type application. The present watch also has the transitional series case back which is distinguished by the lettering "Rolex Patent Oyster Gas Escape Valve" engraved around the back as opposed to the engraving being straight across the back as found on earlier versions. The transitional series is believed to have been produced between 1977 and 1978, with serial numbers in the 5.1 to 5.2 million range.
