J Parker Read Jnr (1885 - 1942) was a noted Hollywood film producer and director and co-founder of Associated Producers Inc. Read came from a family of significant note, a direct descendant of George Read, one of the 56 original signatories of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, whilst the Reads of Los Angeles we significant Beverly Hills property developers.

Read directed his first feature in 1913, before moving onto film producing and In 1919, along with cofounders Thomas Ince (The first movie mogul), director Maurice Tourneur and director and actor Mack Sennett launched Associated Producers, a film production and distribution company in Culver City, on the site now occupied by Sony Pictures Studio. In 1922, Associated Producers merged with First National Pictures and in 1929, it subsequently merged with Warner Bros.

This Jules Jurgensen minute repeater pocket watch was a thank you gift from the co-founders of Associated Producers along with actor, director and producers Mickey Neilan, George L. Tucker and Allan Dwan to J Parker Read and is engraved with the inscription 'Best Wishes of the Season' Xmas 1919
