Important Gold Pocket Watch Made For Frederick Van Voorhies Holman, Chronometrically Adjusted, Guillaume Balance, Box, Papers & Georges Hantz Medallion, circa 1904Case: 18k yellow gold, No. 236327, four body, back with ornate scrolling monogram, gold cuvette engraved "No. 121964 Made for Frederick Van Voorhies Holman, Portland Oregon 1904 by Patek Philippe & Co. Geneva"
Dial: enamel, Breguet numerals, black minute track with red five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds, gold Louis XV hands
Movement: No. 121964, 19 lignes, marked "Adjusted, Extra", fausses cotes decoration, straight line counterpoised lever escapement, 20 jewels, Guillaume balance with winged arms, gold and platinum temperature adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, swan's neck micrometric regulator, wolf's tooth winding, engraved twice with the movement number
Signed: triple signed Patek Philippe & Cie., movement also signed A&C Feldenheimer, Portland Ore., the Certificate of Origin & Warranty states that the case is engraved with the monogram F. V. H. and that the watch is "Chronometrically Adjusted"
Note: Frederick Van Voorhies Holman (August 29, 1852 - July 6, 1927) was a prominent lawyer and civic leader of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Portland Oregon. Legal counsel for the Portland Railway, Light and Power Company and other businesses, he was active in Democratic Party politics, civic organizations and the President of the Oregon Historical Society from 1907 through 1910.
