A. Lange & Söhne Extremely Rare German Military Watch With Mirrored Seconds, circa 1940Case: matte nickel, three body, No. 210930, 65 mm, oversize crown, snap back
Dial: matte black, white Roman hour chapters, outermost second marks and five second numerals, inner ring calibrated for mirrored seconds from 0 to 60, luminous broad diamond form hands, hack center seconds
Movement: gilt, 3/4 plate, No. 210930, caliber 48, straight line lever escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance, micrometric regulator with swan's neck spring, hack center seconds
Band: extra long military style leather band with steel buckle
Signed: movement and dial signed A. Lange & Söhne Glasshütte
Note: This scarce military timepiece is part of an exceedingly small series of observation watches ordered for a special unit of Germany's armed forces. It is fitted with a larger case and a different dial layout than the standard issues. For photographic purposes the seconds scale was mirror inverted.
