Note: This watch is shown on page 39 of "The Watch of the Future". A test program was launched in January, 1956 to assemble and test 1000 model 500 prototypes. Approximately 160 were distributed to Hamilton personnel for wear tests while the remainder were kept in the laboratory for "rack tests", mounted to boards where they could be observed and photographed at regular intervals. A small but unknown quantity of prototypes with clear case backs were given to officers, directors and researchers. Other personnel received watches like the present lot which were sealed and engraved.
