Note: From the René Rondeau collection the present lot was a test watch using a wood veneer which proved to be too difficult to work with and was not commercially produced. (When it went into the market in 1961 the Sherwood M was fitted with a walnut dial.) This watch was kept by Martin Ryan, one of the key people on the Sherwood project, as his personal watch. Complete with original turtle strap and correspondence from Martin Ryan in 1990 concerning the watch; enclosures sent with the watch including a copy of Christmas 1961 "Timely Topics", Hamilton's in-house employee magazine, and a copy of January-February "Weldwood News", employee magazine of U.S. Plywood, both with articles about Sherwood watches and mentioning Martin Ryan.
