    This fascinating military instrument was owned by Capt. Charles (Doc) Joyce, or Winchester Mass. Lot is accompanied by numerous photo print outs and information detailing his heroic acts as B-29 pilot of the "Raiden Maiden", 793rd Squadron, 468th Bombardment Group, 20th Bomber Command. His nickname "Doc" was given for his ability to get badly damaged aircraft safely down - details relaying how he landed a B-29 dead stick after running out of fuel from 10,000 feet is in the paperwork. There is also a detailed account of how Lt. Col. Charles Joyce died at age 38 in a tragic B-47 crash piloted by Col. Michael McCoy.

    Condition: The dial on this timepiece is in excellent condition and all original. The case is in very good condition with light scratches and some wear to the engraving on the case back (still legible). Movement runs and sets as it should.
