This timepiece is accompanied by the Extract from the Archives confirming date of manufacture as 1961 and date of sale as February 9th, 1962. It also lists "Bracelet in platinum" and "Remark : 127 baguette-cut diamonds ~ 22.02 ct., 67 diamonds ~ 22.92 ct."

An exceptional example of "l'art horologer et Joaillier", this timepiece previously sold at a Sotheby's auction of Magnificent Jewelry, April 27, 1987 as lot 295 for a total of $71,500. For comparison, a similar platinum and diamond covered dial watch by Patek Philippe was presented in the Artcurial "Le Temps est Féminin" auction on January 16, 2020, lot 806 selling for $250,695. This example was in case number 2607198 while the present lot is in case number 2607201, three numbers apart. The innovative and unconventional shape, form and design of this timepiece is most probably a spectacular representation of the creativity of Gilbert Albert. The Swiss designer Gilbert Albert joined Patek Philippe in 1955 at the age of 24 years. He served as the firms head of design until 1962.
