    Patek Philippe Rare Steel Prototype with Removable Lugs Ref. 3419, circa 1960
    Case: No. 2606134, 34 mm, steel, screw back, outer screw off retainer ring which releases the lugs, "calatrava" mark on the winding crown
    Dial: matte silver with incised line hour marks, pointed baton hands, subsidiary seconds
    Movement: No. 729198, manual winding, caliber 12/400, 18 jewels, adjusted heat, cold isochronism and five positions, monometallic compensation balance, swan neck regulator, twice stamped with Geneve quality hallmarks
    Band: black Patek leather strap with steel Patek buckle
    Signed: triple signed, band and buckle also signed

    *Note: This is a very unusual and rare model. It was designed to facilitate changing the watch from one with a leather strap to one with an "integral" style metal band. The Extract from the Archives which is presented with this lot shows that is was sold on July 1st, 1960 with a leather strap. Our research shows that fewer than ten 3419 models have appeared in public over the last 15 years.
