Patek Philippe Ref. 3419 Rare "Convertible" Case Steel Wristwatch, circa 1960Case: No. 2606134, six body (two lug flanges, bezel, screw back, back retainer ring, center body), stainless steel, 34 mm
Dial: silver with incised hour markers, pointed baton hands, black minute marks
Movement: caliber 12/400, No. 729198, manual winding, nickel bridge, 18 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and five positions, monometallic balance, twice stamped with Geneve quality hallmarks
Band: black Patek Philippe leather band and steel buckle
Signed: all elements signed
Note: The Extract from the Archives presented with this lot shows that it initially sold with a leather strap on July 1st, 1960. This exceedingly rare case design was developed to give the owner the option of having a watch with traditional lugs and a leather strap or a metal bracelet which would fit the watch with an "integral" look. Fewer than ten reference 3419 models have appeared on the market in the past two decades.
