Note: The reference 5013 was launched in 1992 and is one of the most complex wristwatches ever made by Patek Philippe with a total of 515 parts. The present lot is the first reference 5013 made as indicated by the serial number 1,908,001. The serial number appears on the back movement plate as well as below the gong rods on the pillar plate. The dial is also unique and most likely one-of-a-kind. The dial is without the typical outer "railway" minute track giving it an elegant appearance enhanced by the appealing toning and patina shown on the Breguet numerals. It is interesting to note that a platinum 5013 appeared at auction in 2005 that had a Roman numeral dial with "dot" minute markers in place of the typical track. This unique 5013 represents an extremely rare opportunity for the discerning collector to acquire the first example of this masterwork of modern horology.
