    This highly important and rare timepiece is being presented at auction by family members of Captain Herman E. Griffin. It comes with impeccable provenance including five 10 x 8 inch B&W photos of the members of the late 50's Thunderbird team - including 4 photos which clearly show Captain Griffin wearing this watch. An impressive grouping of original accessories are also present - inner and outer boxes, Swimpruf tag, chronometer tag, strap band, embossed leather bifold holding the original Rolex guarantee papers (numbered and dated 10/29/58), chronometer certificate, instruction leaflet and the Bureaux Suisses chronometer rating certificate (certified by Rolex, New York Oct. 1958).
