An extremely rare and historically important piece of archive from World War II. Manufactured by Seikosha, it was initially produced for the wrist of "Kamikaze" fighter pilots to wear during action. Named the "Tensoku-Tokei", there was only very few examples made with even less examples still preserved today. This is only the second example we have had the opportunity to bring to auction.

Condition Report*: Type: Seikosha "Tensoku-Tokei" Extremely Rare Pilot Watch. Circa WWII.
Signed: Seikosha
Model: Tensoku
Dial: matte black, large radium Arabic numerals.
Hands: white painted moon hands and arrow tipped center seconds
Metal: nickel plated metal
Case Info: three body, fixed thick bars between the lugs, bi-directional rotating bezel
Case Width: 49mm
Crystal: acrylic
Watch Movement: signed Seikosha, nickel finished, wide straight line damaskeening, 9 jewels, straight line lever escapement
Band: potentially original rough leather strap with base metal buckle.
Circa: 1945
Condition: The watch is in remarkable condition given its age and intended use. The fade to the nickel plating on the caseback and tiny, spotty discoloration to the bezel could well be the result of simply the passage of time and not actual use. No watchmakers ID scratches or scribbles but there is evidence of pry marks on the edge of the case. The watch will only run when full pressure is applied to the crown. Obviously a service will be required. Well preserved movement. Possibly original strap. The acrylic crystal appears a bit foggy and has several tiny surface scratches. Graphically arresting dial in with all lume dots intact. Nice onion crown showing even deterioration to the nickel plating.
