    Description

Zodiac/Heuer Carrera, Rare Ref. 1153 Automatic Chronograph with Factory-Overpainted Dial, Stainless Steel, Circa 1969
Case: 38 mm, stainless steel, three body, tonneau, brushed and polished, with snap-on bezel, round pushers, left-handed crown, and screw-down back, No. 254923
Dial: blue sunburst, with raised white outer tachymeter scale, outer minute track with quarter-hour luminous dots, white guilloche 30-minute and 12-hour registers, and stainless-framed date aperture; skeletonized white baton hour/minute hands with luminous inserts, black baton register hands, and orange sword chrono hand
Movement: Zodiac caliber 90 (Heuer caliber 11 base) automatic, 17 jewels, Swiss lever, with chronograph and date functions, and gilt finish
Band: stainless steel bracelet, 11 links, approximately 7 1/2 inches maximum length, including watch, with Zodiac logo on deployment clasp
Signed: Zodiac on dial, case, movement, and clasp

This rare timepiece is essentially identical to the Heuer reference 1153N, and houses a Heuer-sourced chronograph movement, among the first with automatic winding. Close inspection reveals that the Heuer Carrera dial markings can still be seen beneath the Zodiac lettering. The Heuer name also appears to have been obliterated by the factory within the case back.
